Hong Kong stablecoin legislation effective from August, government promotes multi-scenario applications

On June 30, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Chan Mo-po published a discussion paper titled "A New Era for Asia," stating that the legislation for Hong Kong stablecoins will take effect on August 1 of this year. The Hong Kong SAR government and financial regulators will work to create a favorable market environment, complemented by necessary regulatory measures, to promote issuers to apply stablecoins in different scenarios, helping to address the substantial pain points in business operations for enterprises and in the daily lives of citizens.
