L2 Developments Overview: Optimism, Arbitrum, zkSync [Part 2]
Optimism → Superchains:
Optimism introduced OP Stack, a modular and open-source blueprint for creating scalable and interoperable blockchains of all types, and Superchain, a collection of tightly integrated and unified L2s built on top of the OP Stack.
In early June, Optimism migrated their flagship L2 rollup to Bedrock, which reduced deposit time from 10 min to 3 min, enhanced proof modularity by supporting both fault proofs and ZK-proofs, and enabled the execution of multiple transactions within a single rollup "block".
The next step for Optimism is to transition to the Superchain, a decentralized network composed of L2s (OP Chains) that will share security, a communication layer, and an open-source technology stack (OP Stack)
