Interview with Scroll Co-founder Haichen: The Launch of the Mainnet Opens a New Chapter, Focusing on Practical Applications in the Ecosystem

Scroll, as an open-source Layer 2 solution led by Asian entrepreneurs, has been a focal point of community attention. After two years of intensive development and one year of testing, Scroll successfully launched its Mainnet on October 10, 2023.

As of October 27, the total locked value on the Scroll chain is (TVL), which has exceeded 19.3 million USD. The number of Mainnet wallet addresses has surpassed 147,000, and the total number of verified transactions has exceeded 860,000. From October 20 to 26, the average daily transaction volume was close to 80,000, with the highest single-day transaction volume reaching 101,375 on October 22.

Recently, Scroll and Newman Group jointly held the ETH Hong Kong event at Cyberport in Hong Kong, marking the first Ethereum community gathering in the city. During the conference, Scroll co-founder Haichen Shen was interviewed, sharing the development history and future plans of Scroll.

Exclusive Interview with Scroll Co-founder Haichen: The Mainnet launch is a new beginning, with more focus on real-world applications in the ecosystem

Haichen stated that the launch of the Mainnet is an important milestone for Scroll and marks a new beginning. Users can now bridge assets from Ethereum to Scroll and use various applications. In the future, Scroll will introduce more features to further enhance security, reduce usage costs, and provide developers with more tools to build innovative applications.

When discussing the reasons for choosing the zkEVM technology route, Haichen believes that zk provides users with faster and stronger security guarantees. The EVM equivalence allows developers to directly port Ethereum applications without modification, avoiding the introduction of additional bugs.

In terms of ecological construction, Scroll is currently focused on infrastructure such as RPC, indexing, and cross-chain bridges. In the future, it will prioritize supporting DeFi applications, stablecoin payments, AA wallets, and other real-world applications, as well as public goods projects that benefit the overall ecosystem. Haichen revealed that Scroll plans to launch incentive activities aimed at developers, potentially in the form of NFTs.

Regarding the development prospects of the Layer 2 track, Haichen believes that the competition is still in its infancy. In the future, there is a need to further enhance the level of decentralization, improve security, and attract more developers to participate. He emphasized that the Layer 2 market is not a zero-sum game, but a field with significant growth potential.
